When it comes to my work, I tend to use the words "static" and "disconnected." I'm drawn to the idea of using empty space to create a sense of weightlessness. This often leads to a feeling of stagnation, which I find oddly comforting. To me, it's like looking at a photograph that captures a specific moment in time. My subjects usually make their home in the center of the frame, capturing the viewer’s attention with contorted poses and striking yet adorably ferocious expressions. Often approaching my work with a violent, satirical flare, I thrive when I can deconstruct and reconstruct my subject. Though cute and playful, much of my work features disconnected hands, exposed organs, or awkwardly twisted limbs. Each illustration is set off by starkly contrasting blacks and whites or intense complementary colors. I prefer blazing passionate reds, neon greens, and brilliant blues of the cerulean, oceanic, and sky blue varieties. Usually, I prefer curvy lines and small dots to smooth blending when creating my art. These lines and dots also help me achieve texture in my work. I marry color, light, and shadow to create a sense of depth in my work.
